Evaluated unit

Evaluated units play a key role in IRDE through critical reflection on their research activities, research environment, and future strategic direction. Through the Self-Evaluation Report, they provide the evaluation panel with the context needed to assess their main achievements, relevance and impact, research culture, and future strategy.

What is expected of evaluated units
  • Preparation of the Self-Evaluation Report, placing the available data and other supporting materials in context, including interpretation of the unit’s development using the PBI dashboard. As part of this preparation, the unit also familiarises itself with the Faculty Contextual Report.

  • Discussion with the evaluation panel during the on-site visit.

  • Involvement of relevant representatives of the evaluated unit in the on-site visit, ensuring that the panel has an opportunity to meet and discuss with the unit’s leadership, principal investigators, and researchers at different career stages.

Guideline and Template

Further information on the evaluation process is provided in the Guidelines for Evaluated Units. Detailed instructions for completing the Self-Evaluation Report are included directly in the Self-Evaluation Report template.

Guidelines for Evaluated Units Self-Evaluation Report

faculty contextual report

Before the evaluation begins, each faculty or university institute prepares a Contextual Report providing evaluators with key information about the institutional, strategic, and organisational environment in which the evaluated units and doctoral degree programmes operate. The report is then made available to the evaluation panels, evaluated units, and doctoral programme guarantors and serves as a shared context for the evaluation as a whole.

Information that is already sufficiently covered in the Contextual Report does not need to be repeated in the evaluated unit’s Self-Evaluation Report.
